Kunz

Kunz toothed plane blades are used for straightening and dimensioning timber - jack and try planing. The advantage of using a toothed plane blade over a standard one is that they eliminate any risk of tearout. As well as improving the chances of a successful result, this can also be a big timesaver when preparing boards with interlocked or alternating grain, like this piece of English burr oak (right).
Toothed irons are easy to sharpen - just a single flat bevel. The ridged surface left on the timber by the toothed blade can be easily cleaned up with a finely set smoothing plane or scraper. It pays to take a little extra care once you get back to uninterrupted shavings.
These high quality plane irons are made in Germany from CrV steel and hardened to RC61.
