Shinwa Log Scriber

Designed for transferring the curved profile of one log to the next when constructing log buildings.

With the logs laid on top of each other, the compass is set to the distance between the logs. Using a plumb surface the twin levels are set and then used to keep the scribe perpendicular while the point follows the lower log and the pencil transcribes its shape onto the upper log.

Can be used to mark out channels in the underside of parallel logs and to lay out notches for interlocking walls.

The tubular legs of the Shinwa log scribe allow for pencils to be used in both legs for double scribing - providing a mark of the piece to be removed and a record of where on the lower log of where that mark was scribed from.
