2in (50mm) Quangsheng plane blade to fit No.4 and No.5 bench planes.

This is a 3mm thick plane iron made from T10 water hardening carbon tool steel. Water hardening steels are more difficult to heat treat than either oil or air hardening steels but they take a finer edge.

Hardened to RC60-63 these will equal or better the performance of just about any replacement blade on the market.

Because the blade is thicker than the original irons fitted to some planes it may be necessary to file the mouth a little wider and extend or replace the yoke. My usual advice is to replace the cap iron first as this often delivers a significant benefit without the need for any alterations.

Please note that we are unable to ship Quangsheng products to North America due to retail exclusivity restrictions.

    Not flat

Posted by Pat on 21st Dec 2021

I feel bad I have to write this as Workshop heaven is a good reliable company , Perhaps I was the unlucky one I bought the 2" Iron and Cap Iron . my Iron had a huge hump on the back and the whole back of the Iron has a back bow , it took me over 3 hour with 120 grit Diamond plate to flatten the lump the back bow is still there , I have blisters and my fingers are sore lol. I know I could of returned it and asked for a replacement but as i had complained about another product i didn't want to seem like im a moaning customer as Workshop heaven were very good about the previas problem . Judging by other comment it seems I was just unlucky I suppose , after i finally managed to get it sharp it worked well. Admin: If something's not as expected please do get in touch, I'd much rather replace an item than have customers inconvenienced. Steel can sometimes move unpredictably in response to heat treatment, usually it happens immediately and gets picked up by QA at the factory, but very occasionally it can happen weeks later. It's just the nature of hardened steel so we're always happy to exchange it. If you encounter any further problems with it (ever) your warranty is still valid.

    Fantastic Blade!

I ordered the blade last year and fitted it to an old Stanley #5. I am currently dimensioning hard Maple and running it alongside a PM-V11 blade in a Stanley#4 1/2 and an old Record blade in a 5 1/2. Make no mistake, the Veritas blade is gold, but this thing takes the cake. It takes the best edge of all and lasts as long as the fancier Veritas steel. It was flat out of the box and sharpens up in 2 minutes.

    A great improvement

Fitted this to my Stanley #4 with a QS cap iron and longer yoke. What an improvement, the results are unbelievable compared to the stock Stanley irons. You will however need to file the mouth of your plane to allow the iron to protrude through. Not a huge job, just take your time, worth the effort.

    Quality steel

Posted by Mark Rhodes on 2nd Jul 2015

This T10 steel is far superior than anything out there at this price point and more. It's so good I have changed out my L/N no4 A2 iron, this holds an edge very well, and I recommend it to anyone thinking of upgrading.

These QS irons have a well deserved reputation for excellent value, very fine steel and precision. Backs are really good, take a very fine edge (better than A2) and last well. I also use one as a spare in a LN block - best value high quality irons on the market.

Excellent blade at an unbeatable price.

As good as any blade three times the price. I took this on one of David Charlesworth's sharpening courses and it preformed as well as the more expensive blades. I will now think seriously about buying a Quangsheng plane.
