Traditionally crafted by Susa Seisakusho, who have been making Japanese hammers in Sanjo for over 150 years. Sakikiri carpenters hammers have a gently domed face on one end and a point on the other that can be used for setting nails.

They are also the most common type used with Japanese planes, with the domed end used for positioning, setting and releasing the iron and the pointy end used for the uradashi process of tapping the jigane layer on the bevel of a plane iron to maintain the hollow without altering the thickness of the iron.

The head surface has been treated with a special high-quality chrome plating, giving it a mirror-like shine that is rust-resistant and non-peeling.
