These beautiful handmade Japanese secateurs are designed to handle current and last year's growth only, they almost become an extension of your hand and cut smoothly from pinch to point.

Pruning a tree, vine, rose bush or shrub is a conversation between two living organisms of entirely different kingdoms, each shoot or bud is a suggestion from the plant, you are just selecting which of the tree's many proposals to run with.

In this moment of near spiritual concentration, the secateurs in your hand should function flawlessly; thin, elegant light forgings with curved shapes that have evolved over generations, sharp blades that support the stem as they cut and a light spring action that presses the handles gently into your hand.
