Hand planes are incredibly precise tools, they can hollow a surface to within microns of perfectly flat, dimension components with similar degree of accuracy and leave a clean, smooth, flawless surface that requires no sanding.

Jack planes No. 5 and 5½ are used for correcting cupped or twisted boards. The longer try, fore and jointer planes No. 6, 7 and 8 are designed to flatten surfaces very accurately. Smoothing planes No. 3, 4 and 4½ have shorter soles so that they follow the surface and pick up any low spots, taking the lightest of shavings and leaving an immaculate finish.

Most of the planes we sell are manufactured to British Standard BS3623:1981 or better and are warranted for the rest of your life*.
