Hand Braces

Hand braces are usually associated with traditional tapered square head auger bits but they also work very well with modern quick-change hex shanks (round shanked drills have a tendency to slip). The three jaw hand brace will fit the majority of bits, there is a square recess behind the chuck which engages the square tip of traditional auger bits while the jaws reach around to grab the shank.

For very short necked bits (chairmakers spoon bits for example) there is the option of a four jaw hand brace, or you can just buy the brace jaw assembly and swap them over.
