The classic jewellers saw is a highly versatile tool that can get into places and saw at angles that would otherwise be impossible. Most woodworkers buy one for releasing the waste between the tails and pins of through dovetails, but soon come to realise how useful they are for other jobs too.

I particularly like these adjustable frame jewellers saws; tensioning the blade is easier and if the blade breaks you can put the longest bit back in and carry on. The saws also have a blade tensioning screw at the front so you can install the blade in a civilised manner and then adjust the tension accurately. Lastly these jewellers saws take straightforward blades without any loops or pins at the end, so if you need to insert one through a very small hole to start in the middle of a piece, you can do so.

Superb quality, round backed, Swiss made 5" plain unpinned blades to fit sold separately.

Perfect saw for almst all precision work

I started using this type of saw many moons ago from when I was a time-served (dental) maxillo-facial technician. In any precision wood or metal working a piercing saw is my saw of choice as it's only the blade that needs changing to accommodate the material being shaped. I find it invaluable for fret work, when cutting out inlays, and for removing dovetail waste and almost any other intricate work. The advice I would give to others is to use spiral blades as the cut can be in any direction, although it does require careful manipulation exactly because it's easy to go off in the wrong direction - beware! Practice makes perfect! :-)

    Impressive presision

I need to be able to cut selected profiles of nickel silver embedded in plastic without risk of damaging anything around them. Inserting the saw blade in just the right spot and making the cuts was a breeze with this saw. The handle opposite the main handle makes it easy to get the desired tension.

    Budget friendly dovetail waste remover

A relatively lightweight and balanced saw. The adjusters are easy to grip and torque adequately. Being able to change the frame size to suit even a broken blade is great if you're like me and always forget where you placed your blades! At the price these are offered at, they're a steal!
