Made by a small family firm in Birmingham England, these beautiful mallets are turned from select billets of fine timbers, in this case idigbo and olivewood.
The smooth olivewood handle fills the hand beautifully, giving a wonderful sense of comfort and control. The balance is spot on for light to medium blows, perfect for carving or cabinetmaking. The idigbo head is very similar to elm in terms of strength, although not as pretty it is both cheaper and slightly softer and therefore kinder to wallets and tool handles.
The handle is secured in the traditional manner by a full length wedged through tenon.
