The standard Starrett metric combination square with precision ground cast iron square head complete with reversible lock bolt, scriber, spirit level, and durable crinkle finish. Both sides of the 300mm hardened steel blade are engraved with full mm on one edge and half mm on the other.
Although there is no current standard for combination squares, Starrett continue to manufacture to a now obsolete U.S. federal specification of 0.004in per foot max deviation for square, with blade edges straight to 0.001in.
All standard Starrett combination set components are interchangeable, so if you choose to add a centre head, longer rule or protractor, you can be confident that they will work with your existing Starrett kit.

I've been without a combination square for a while and wanted to spend once on quality machining and components. It may see pricy but it's with every penny, I make my living from my tools and the products they produce so having something that is 100% accurate and built to stay that way is important to me.
I had always regarded combination squares as secondary tools, not to be relied on for anything important. Since buying this Starrett combination square it has hardly been out of my hands.
Nearly all our students purchase this product at the start of our courses at Waters and Acland Furniture School. The blade is used as a reference straight edge and we often add the 600mm blade as well. This kit is not cheap but when it comes to your reference in the workshop it needs to be accurate.
