Richard Kell

In the days when engineering firms had a toolroom, where engineers could go to have a specific die or jig individually custom made for a specific purpose, the toolmakers were always handpicked as the most highly skilled, innovative and accurate.
It is in this context that Richard Kell is a toolmaker, and a very good one at that. His tools are made from scratch - bores and diameters drilled and turned, threads cut and components heat treated. We are very lucky to be able to get tools that have been made to such high standards.

A simple, elegant and highly effective tool for producing lines perpendicular to straight, concave or convex edges.
The centre finder has two dowels that locate against a curved surface and a straight edge that gives a line at right angles to the edge.
To find the centre of a circular or near circular object simply mark two lines from different points on the circumference, the point at which they intersect is the centre.
