Shogun 250mm Precision Dozuki (Deep Blade)

37.5

The dozuki is the Japanese equivalent of a backsaw, the supporting spine and pullsaw action allow the use of a really thin sawplate, in the case of this Shogun precision dozuki, just one quarter of a mm.

With the thin blade and minimal set (less than a tenth of a mm) the saw kerf produced is exceptionally fine, so there is less material to remove, and for very little effort you get an extremely accurate, exceptionally smooth, dead straight cut.

The Shogun Precision Dozuki is ideal for dovetails, small tenons and other fine joinery. The blade is a little deeper than most, which comes in handy for occasional deeper cuts, or if you want to use a guide block to help place the start the cut. Performance is optimized for harder softwoods and mild hardwoods like walnut and mahogany. With care it can also be used on harder timbers and exotics, just take your time and let the saw do the work.

A first class precision tool
This is an excellent saw. It produces an extremely fine straight kerf and is particularly useful for hand-cut dovetails. I'm afraid that the traditional dovetail saw simply does not stand up to comparison with the Shogun Dozuki.

Excellent piece of kit.
If you give yourself a chance to become used to the cutting style of Japanese saws, you will be very happy with the results. These produce accurate cuts with little effort and a very fine kerf. I find the marked lines easy to see when using a pull saw and have been very happy with recent dovetails.

Having used this type of saw for years I would never go back to the European style.
Cuts very fast with little efort and easy to use.
Very accurate and clean cut.

With careful use a blade lasts but I always keep spare blades on the shelf.

Japanese draw saw, Dozuki. 250mm
This saw is new to me, I can't praise it enough. The teeth are razor sharp which means little pressure is needed. Comes with a spare blade which I will not need for a long time - if ever! Great instrument and at a very reasonable price.
