Made from M2 tungsten molybdenum steel, hardened to RC 59-62, M2 is often used at somewhat higher hardnesses for woodturning tools, where it's excellent abrasion resistance provides superior edge retention.
The hafted handle is made from pakkawood - a resin stabilised wood composite, with solid brass rivets and spacers.
In an ideal world, a pair of marking knives gives the choice to work up against left or right templates when laying out or transferring marks. Right handed people will usually tend to prefer using the right bevelled knife wherever possible, and can usually find ways around the rest by registering off the bevel or honing a tiny spear point at the tip. The single bevelled knives are also well suited to making heavier cuts in leatherwork or light carving.
