The Quangsheng Luban shoulder plane is a very precisely engineered tool.

The body is cast from the same unbreakable CR40 alloy steel as the bench planes, it is accurately ground to a fine finish and extremely square.

The mouth is adjustable, which in conjunction with exceptionally smooth blade adjustment gives a complete control over the cut. The adjuster is based on the same low ratio mechanism used for Quangsheng type 3 block planes.

T10 carbon steel cutting iron, hardened to RC63 and held in place with a hand finished, investment cast, stainless lever.

    Great Shoulder Plane

This is a great shoulder plane. Sole is flat and square to the sides. Takes only minutes to hone the blade to scary sharp. Great plane, great price. I love mine

Should not have bought it. Because now I want smaller version (No. 91) also.

This plane is comfortable in hand and is a pleasure to use. I am very impressed. It looks good too! This is the first Quangsheng plane I have used and would not hesitate to purchase from this manufacturer again. Thank you 'Workshop Heaven'

    A well made plane

Posted by Guest on 4th Sep 2014

I make furniture at home as a hobby. I tend to use hardwood (Oak, Beech, Ash). This is my first Quangsheng plane and by far the best in my small collection. It is reassuringly heavy, easy to set, use, and sharpen. It is well finished and balances nicely in the hand.

Makes you question the premium planes!

Although this may not be as pretty as the premium planes out there, it certainly does it's job extremely well. It's comfortable to hold and has a weight to it, which feels just right. Apart from a few minor burrs around some of the edges, the finish is flawless. Performance far outweighs the cost!
