The Rubankov range of carving tools are hand forged from WX15 ball bearing steel, with a hot struck mark and a traditional octagonal neck and bolster.
The fruitwood (species may vary) common octagon pattern handles have a thick solid brass bolster, and are simply finished with Danish oil.
Rubankov gouges use the European numbering system which doesn't have a flat skew in the No.2 position, so N2 is a No.3 sweep, N3 is a No.4 and so on.
Equally happy being pushed or tapped with a mallet, Rubankov carving tools arrive sharp and ready to use.
