Marples Rosewood 9" Try Square

22.5

A beautifully madeRosewood Try Squares to BS3322 The stocks are made of Rosewood, the blade from tempered, blued steel. They have a machined brass face for protection against damage and accuracy. The blade is secured by means of a brass diamond washer and steel rivet, or all brass round rivets.

All Marples try squares are manufactured to BS3322. Each square is tested for accuracy twice during manufacture and again immediately prior to despatch. The squares are tested on both the inside and outside faces, our specification for the internal angle is twice as accurate as that specified in the British Standard, an accuracy better than 0.01mm/10mm blade length.

Carpenter's try squares are designed for squaring across sawn boards in preparation for sawing to length. Because the outcome can only be as good as the sawn surface that the stock is registered against, there is a limit to how much accuracy is relevant and this is reflected in the standard. Try squares can be adjusted and should be regarded as a means of carrying squareness from a master square to the work.

If you want an ultimate arbiter from which all squareness in your workshop originates or a small square for precision joinery, a good quality engineers square merked with a BS or DIN standard would be a better starting point. If you need size, more accuracy, good balance and lifetime durability, a proper Starrett combination square gives you more of all four for less money than any other option.  If you want to put a plank across a saw horse and chop the end off it, you're in the right place.
