    Very poorly finished

I expected a precision tool to be precisely finished. This square was tarnished requiring Scotch Brite pad, and some edges were slightly rounded, as if carelessly passed over a fine sander. There were two scratches, which could not be removed using the pads It is square. I believed it was German made, but it looks like a Chinese knock off. First and last time buying Kinex. I nearly went for a different brand, and only kept this as it was need urgently for setting up a machine.

Accurate and well made - room for improvement in the packaging though

As per the 150mm version I purchased at the same time, the square is... very square, and really nicely made. The blade is also set dead straight in the stock when viewed edge-on, unlike a few BS939 squares I've had. While the box it comes in is padded, there's not enough padding in the lid to stop the square coming out of it's recess and rattling around during shipping so needs some improvement here - better than the 150mm version though which has NO padding. All that said, Workshop Heaven do pack them in a larger shipping carton full of foam peanuts which, while not all that eco-friendly (unless they're starch-based?), offers some protection from your friendly neighbourhood parcel destroyers. For only a modest price increase over BS939/B squares I'd choose these every time, despite the packaging issues.
