Usually translated as Japanese dovetail chisels, Umeki Oire have slender triangular blades with about half the side height of traditional oire nomi. The sides are not quite as thin as we are used to on western dovetail chisels, but are ground as low as the laminated construction will allow. Light, thin, and accurate, umeki oire are very well suited to furniture making.
Made for us by Fujikawa in Miki City, Japan, these beautiful umeki oire nomi are made to the same spec as the rest of the Fujikawa professional range with hon akagashi (premium Japanese red oak) handles, blued hoops and hand forged blades.
Please note these are very much 'cutting only' tools and should in no circumstances be used to pry the waste or remove slices thicker than half a mm or so.
