Figured Maple 35mm x 35mm x 750mm

9.5

We have been lucky enough to get hold of a further limited quantity of beautiful highly-figured maple after the last batch flew out of the warehouse in one weekend.

I planed up a couple of pieces using a low angle jack with a skewed cut and treated them to a coat of Alfie Shine to give you a sense for the goodness within.

There's a mixture of figuring; birdseye, fiddleback, quilted etc, you really don't know what's inside until you open them up - but that's half the fun.

Originally destined to be made into pool cues, things that wouldn't affect their use haven't been graded out, so some are slightly bowed, twisted or have the odd surface defect, but there's plenty of good material for knife handles, tool handles, you could rip them into strips for small furniture components with a big wow factor.

Rather than making them any more expensive, we are offering these maple blanks 'as is' in the sawn condition.

Dimensions: approximately  1.5" x 1.5" x 30" (35mm  x 35mm  x 750mm)

Great stuff!
I went recently to a very well known, fairly local timber yard looking for (amongst other things) some well figured Birds Eye Maple for an forthcoming project. I didn't require a vast amount as I tend to use this stuff in small quantities for 'accent' details and similar; what I did want though was prime, beautifully figured timber and I was prepared to pay quite a lot of my hard earned 'folding' to buy a bit. I came away from the yard very disappointed as some years ago I'd bought a well figured board and expected to repeat the exercise. No such luck, in fact the supposedly well figured timber was really only poor, second grade maple.
I was VERY glad that I decided to take a punt with a few lumps of Mathew's timber as when I got it out to the 'shop and passed a finely set, low angle jack over a couple of bits, it's quite outstanding...fantastic in fact and absolutely perfect for my project.

Great service
Sometimes things go wrong, it happens. I had an issue with the quality of some wood and within hours not only a reply but an offer to replace, even though I was happy to have a refund and return the product. Great customer service and a highly recommended company. This is one of the reasons I love Workshop Heaven.
