A selection pack of four glorious native British timber species to make pairs of pens. The pen blanks are generously sawn from select pieces of well dried and seasoned timber, waxed at each end for stability.
From the left, Apple is hard and durable yet light in weight, pale and subtly figured it is a pleasure to turn. Black cherry is dense and hard, it has a rich purple streaked figure that comes alive when oiled - almost as enjoyable as the fruit! The rich golden colour of Yew needs no introduction to woodturners, the hard smooth timber of the churchyard guardian has been a popular timber with turners for centuries. Last but not least, spalted beech with it's internal three dimensional lacework created by fungi, a little more challenging to turn, but the finished item makes a wonderful conversation starter.

- Black Cherry
- Spalted Beech
